Gate 9, Nutrition, and Protein: A Perfect Pair for Detailed Focus

I love gate 9! I have it in a defined Sacral Center in Neptune, which can be an elusive energy. However, with awareness, Neptune gates are qualities that bring you the most spiritual growth and depth. Allowing myself the time to focus in on the details of a project feels great, but I can also tell when I am getting caught up in the details to the point that it's keeping me stuck and is blocking my growth.

Gate 9's Inherent Energetic Gifts

Gate 9 is called the gate of Focus and it loves to dive into the details, especially logical information, facts, and figures. In the I Ching, gate 9 is called the Taming Power of the Small. It acts like a funnel, focusing gate 52’s enormous power to concentrate on what is meaningful or worthwhile to you.

With gate 9, your eyes have an ability to focus and hone in on the small, nitty gritty details of something, such as a project. You make an amazing proofer - such as proofing an email, book, blog, etc. In alignment, this power has an unmatched level of determination to focus on the details.

When it comes to nutrition, eating enough dietary protein is very important for gate 9. Protein helps stabilize the focus needed to concentrate and sort through a lot of logical type of information.

Follow your Authority to determine what it is you will be able to sustain your focus on. When your heart is behind all your actions, you will express gate 9 in its highest form. If you are doing something because you have to or should, it will be difficult to focus. Not following your sacral response with gate 9 can even appear to look like ADD.

Gate 9 - the Gate of Focus - Low Expression

The low expression of gate 9 is getting caught up in the details that don't matter, being overly logical and detailed when unnecessary, and being overly logical. This low expression can feel like a victim mindset where you are reluctant to move through your fears and outside of your comfort zone. In addition, you may become a victim of details (analysis paralysis).

What does the low expression feel like? When you're a victim of details, it may feel like INERTIA. Remember, this gate is located in the Sacral Center, which is a powerful motor that fuels your life-force vitality. If you're stuck in inertia, you will feel a sense of sluggishness, resistance to change, or a lack of motivation to move forward or take action. It's often associated with a feeling of being stuck on the details or unable to make progress, mentally or physically. This state will steal your life force energy, eventually creating burnout and an energy of indifference.

What might cause the low expression of gate 9? It can happen when fear, scarcity, “should’s," and “have to’s” keep you stuck in a loop of small things going nowhere. Inertia or frustration can also show up when you don't have enough time or energy to be completely thorough in your work.

How do you move toward the high expression of gate 9? What's so crucial here is where you put your energy and focus. Are you able to keep your mind from undermining your progress? Every small action matters. Taking imperfect action is better than nothing. Every tiny moment of each action makes a difference to the whole, and is what gets you to the dream.

The key is to put your energy into the right daily activities that lead you closer to your dreams.

Gate 9 Nutrition and Dietary Protein

Gate 9 is half of the format channel 9-52, the channel of concentration. This format energy is really impactful on someone's design, and it is associated with dietary protein. This nutrition connection makes a ton of sense to me for several reasons.

First, protein provides the amino acids required to produce neurotransmitters, such as dopamine and norepinephrine, which play a crucial role in regulating attention and focus.

Additionally, protein does not increase blood sugar. In fact, protein helps stabilize blood sugar levels, preventing energy crashes that can negatively impact concentration and overall brain function.

Amino Acids Linked to Gate 9 and Gate 52

In human design, each of the 64 gates corresponds with an amino acid, and this number also aligns with the 64 codons in human DNA that are responsible for encoding amino acids.

Gate 9 is linked to Threonine. Gate 52, it's harmonic gate, is linked to Serine. Together they form the 9-52 channel. I have some absolutely fascinating science to weave with this connection.

Here are two examples:

Example #1:

Through a biochemical process, Threonine (gate 9) can be converted into Serine (gate 52). Serine is a precursor for the synthesis of sphingolipids, which are essential components of cell membranes, particularly in neurons. Sphingolipids are involved in cell signaling, membrane structure, and neuroprotection, and disruptions in their metabolism have been associated with neurodegenerative diseases. Wow!!!🤯 I have a good friend and channel 9-52 defines his Sacral Authority. His genetic testing reveals he has the APOE gene, which increases risk of Alzheimer's disease. You must have enough Threonine in order to have enough Serine!

Example #2:

Threonine indirectly participates in the glutamate-glutamine cycle by providing Serine for the synthesis of glutamate, the most abundant excitatory neurotransmitter in the brain. It plays a crucial role in learning and memory.

Glutamate is converted into glutamine, which is crucial for neurotransmitter balance, neuronal metabolism, and maintaining synaptic transmission efficiency, thus promoting focus and concentration.

Without Serine, this process can't happen, but the step before that is having enough Threonine. A deficiency in Threonine could lead to reduced Serine availability, which could impair cognitive function, resulting in difficulties with learning, memory formation, concentration, and attention.

The Full Picture of Gate 9's Gift & Shadow and Protein

If someone has gate 9, gate 52, or the full channel, the ability to find STILLNESS in order to FOCUS & CONCENTRATE on what you love is essential!

Are you having troubles focusing? It could be you aren't "into" what you're doing, but I also think the inability to focus could be related to a lack of protein, specifically the amino acid Threonine. If your brain has neurotransmitter imbalances, this negatively impacts your brain function. This can potentially influence conditions like ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). In addition, I think this deficient state makes you very prone to the shadow of Inertia.

I wonder whether a lack of dietary protein create the amino acid deficiency, which then manifests inertia? Or does being misaligned and living in the low expression of gate 9 create the amino acid deficiency?

Promote Adequate Threonine Intake

Increasing threonine intake naturally is achieved by incorporating foods rich in protein. Here are some examples of foods that are good sources of the amino acid threonine:

Animal-Based Proteins are generally rich sources of threonine.

Include foods such as:

  • Lean meats: Chicken, turkey, beef, pork

  • Fish: Salmon, tuna, cod, trout

  • Eggs: Whole eggs or egg whites

  • Dairy products: Milk, yogurt, cheese

Plant-Based Proteins: While plant-based proteins may contain lower amounts of threonine compared to animal products, they can still contribute to overall threonine intake.

Include foods such as:

  • Legumes: Beans, lentils, chickpeas, peas

  • Nuts and seeds: Almonds, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds

  • Soy products (organic only): Tofu, tempeh, edamame

  • Whole grains: Quinoa, oats, barley, brown rice

Follow Your Determination Diet Type

In addition to these nutrition tips, also consider following your Primary Health System (PHS) Determination Diet type. This is a way of eating that supports your well-being.

Questions for Inquiry

Do you have gate 9? How is your focus, concentration, and overall brain health? Do you notice you feel better when you eat enough protein everyday?

I would love to hear from you.

Much love,

Kelly

Human Design Appointments

Moving from where you are now toward your highest, fullest potential requires long-term dedication to learning and experimenting with your human design. I've learned so much through the process of researching human design, observing myself and others, feeling the energetics in my body in real life, and repeating that cycle over and over.

I believe growth requires more than one appointment, which is why I offer an initial appointment (90 minutes) with a follow-up appointment (60 minutes).
